We believe that the connection you have to a place and your experience of it has a profound effect on the photographs you make there. The deeper your understanding and attachment to a location is, the more impact your images will have. This is one of the reasons that local photographers make the most breathtaking images of their own area.

When you are traveling on tight schedules through such beautiful locations, it can be difficult to make these important connections, but our tours do exactly that. We will take you to some of the most stunning sites: well known icons as well as captivating, less known gems. All the while you will also have the pleasure of tasting local foods and whiskeys, meeting local people, enjoying authentic entertainment and hearing the history and folklore of this colorfully fascinating country from an official Blue Badge Guide. As you travel through Northern Ireland with us, you will truly be experiencing it on multiple levels and that connection will shine through in your images.

This tour is intended for the serious photographer, who doesn’t mind being up and out for sunrise as well as sunset in order to experience the most enchanting lighting conditions. If you would like a more relaxed tour that will have you sleeping normal hours but still seeing and experiencing all the same delights, our June tour may be a better option for you.

Your photo tour leaders will be Athena Carey and John Dunne, two international award-winning photographers who have lead workshops and courses around the world with a wide range of participants – young and old, experienced and beginning photographers. Travel with them from Belfast to Northern Ireland’s iconic Causeway Coast enjoying it’s unique beauty, culture and history.

In order to keep the tour personal, only 12 spots are available. A deposit of US$1,125 is required to hold your place. 
The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to the tour’s start.

This tour requires a good level of photographic skill and is primarily aimed at photographers of intermediate level and above. To get the most this tour has to offer, you should understand how to use your camera and have some understanding of exposure and composition but your photo tour leaders will be there with you in each location to teach you new tricks and guide you through the best photographic choices. If you would like to experience Northern Ireland and return home with beautiful photos, this tour is for you.

  • Single Room Supplement: $650

    Prices are based on double occupancy; however, single rooms can be booked, subject to availability, for an additional fee of $650. If you are booking alone and would like to share a room, we will help you find a roommate for the tour, but if none is available, or you wish to have a private room, you will be required to pay the supplement.

  • Small Group Surcharge: $325

    Photo Tour price is in US Dollars based upon a minimum of 6 paying participants. In the unlikely event that this minimum is not met, there will be a small surcharge of $325 to run the tour for 4-6 paying participants.


Day 1 – Meet for dinner and drinks in the Belfast hotel.

Day 2 – Travel together by luxury coach from Belfast to the Causeway Coast, visiting a castle and gardens along the way. Later in the day, walk from Ballintoy Harbour to watch the last colorful rays of the day tuck behind Elephant Rock.

Day 3 – Visit the world famous Giant’s Causeway World Heritage Site for both sunrise and sunset to appreciate the contrasting angles of light across it’s iconic basalt columns and in between experience the unique whiskey making tradition at Ireland’s oldest working distillery.

Day 4 – Begin the day early, by the sea photographing a quaint fisherman’s pier and a curious rock formation , followed by an ancient Friary complete with cemetery. Finish the day by enjoying a delicious meal and authentic live local entertainment.

Day 5 – Enjoy sunrise on the shore, looking up at Mussenden Temple silhouetted by the day’s first rays. Take a stroll through the grounds of Downhill Demesne and finish off cliffside beside Mussenden Temple looking out across the awe inspiring north coast at sunset.

Day 6 – Spend the morning at the mysterious Dark Hedges followed by a guided tour of a ruined, late medieval and 17th century castle that sits precariously on a clifftop. After lunch, return to Belfast.

We’ll return to the same hotel near Belfast airport to say our farewells. Most of us will spend the night there (not included in the tour) before continuing home the following day.
